Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400. Spray a 9x13" baker with vegetable spray. Slice bread. Place bread tightly together in one layer in baker. Beat eggs lightly. Add milk, 1/4 cup sugar and vanilla and mix. Pour half of liquid over bread.

Peel, slice and core apples. Cut into rings. Place apple rings on top of bread to cover. Pour remaining egg mixture over apples. Mix remaining 1/2 cup sugar with cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples. Dot with butter. Bake for 35 mins. Cool 5-10 mins. Serve with maple syrup.

***Tip: Prepare the night before, cover and refrigerate. Bake the next morning for 50 mins. (I usually reduce temperature to 350.)
