Ingredients

  • 2 C. Flour
  • 1 C. Brown Sugar (packed)
  • 1/2 C. Oats
  • 3/4 C. Butter (melted)
  • Filling
  • 2/3 C. Sugar
  • 3 T. Cornstarch
  • 1 1/4 C. Cold Water
  • 4 C. Tart Apples (Peeled & Diced)
  • 1 t. Vanilla
  • 3 to 4 drops of Red Food Coloring

Preparation

Step 1

1. In a medium bowl, combine Flour, Sugar, Oats and Butter. Set aside one cup of topping. Press remaining mixture into an ungreased 9 inch pie pan and set that aside.

2. In a saucepan combine the Sugar, Cornstarch and Water and cook until smooth, then bring to a boil until it thickens (about a minute or two).

3. Remove from heat and stir in the Apples, Vanilla and Food Coloring. Now pour into the Crust you have prepared. Top it off with the remaining crumbs you set aside. After you crumble them on top you are ready to Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes or until crust is Golden.

4. Cool on a rack and get out the ice cream.
