Round Steak Parmesan

Ingredients

  • 1 pound round steak
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/3 c. Parmesan cheese
  • 1/3 c. dry bread crumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 c. oil
  • 2 Tblsp. butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 c. tomato paste
  • 2 c. hot water
  • 1/2 tsp. marjoram
  • 10 oz. sliced Mozzarella cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Cut meat into serving pieces; salt and pepper. Combine Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs. Dip meat into egg and then coat with cheese mixture. Heat oil in a skillet and fry meat pieces until brown. In another pan, fry onion in butter until soft; add remaining ingredients except Mozzarella cheese. Boil a few minutes. In a casserole, layer one half of sauce with meat; then add all Mozzarella cheese. Top with remainder of sauce and bake uncovered at 350 for 30 minutes.
