Autumn Swirl Cake with Maple Spiced Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1 package Duncan Hines Autumn Velvets Cake Mix
  • water, eggs, and oil called for in mix
  • 1 container Duncan Hines Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 2 T maple syrup
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 /t allspice
  • 1 c finely chopped pecans

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325* F. grease and flour 2 8inch cake pans.
Prepare cake mix according to package directions.
Pour half of each batter into each pan. Cut and twist knife through batters to create swirl effect.
Bake 27-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool cakes on wire rack for 15 minutes. Remove cakes from pans and cool completely.
Blend frosting with maple syrup, cinnamon and allspice. Stack cake layers on serving plate with 1/2 c frosting and 1/4 cup nuts in between layers. Spread with remaining frosting and decorate with remaining nuts.
