Asian Barbeque Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger minced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup mirin wine (rice wine vinegar)
  • 1/2 hoisin sauce**
  • 1/4 cup (2-ounces) brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (2-ounces) rice wine vinegar (mirin is rice wine vinegar)
  • 1/4 cup (2-ounces) tomato paste
  • 1/2 tablespoon red pepper flakes

Preparation

Step 1

** Michelle says use the Oriental sauce in blue and yellow label with no English on the label-doesn't remember the name.

Saute the minced onion and minced ginger in 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil;
add the mince garlic and saute until you can "smell" aroma.

Add remaining ingredients except the pepper flakes.

Simmer until mixture coats back of spoon.

Add the pepper flakes now.

Cool sauce before marinating meat. Baste while cooking.

Good for flank steak and chicken; also ribs.
