Half Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks; 8-ounces) butter softened
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease and flour loaf pan or 6-inch tube pan.
Sift flour three times to measure the 2 cups.
In large bowl, cream butter and sugar with electric mixer for 10 minutes at medium-high speed.
Add flour and eggs, alternately, one egg at a time, then flour. Start with flour and end with flour. Add vanilla.
Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake 1 hour or until wooden pick inserted in center of cake comes out clean.
Cool in pan for 15 minutes then remove from pan and cool completely.
