Butter Kuchen (German Butter Cake) 13x9x2-inch

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces (1 box) pound cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick; 4-ounces) butter melted
  • 5 large eggs divided
  • 2 cups confectioner's sugar divided
  • 1 package (8-ounces) cream cheese
  • 1 Small Package (3-ounces) cream cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped (I have used toasted pecans or no nuts at all)

Preparation

Step 1

Cake must be refrigerated..
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Have ALL ingredients at room temperature.

In large mixing bowl combine cake mix, butter and 3 eggs; beat until till smooth; spread in a greased 13 x 9 by 2 - inch baking pan.

Set aside 2 tablespoons confectioner's sugar for topping.
Beat the 11 ounces of cream cheese, vanilla, confectioner's sugar and the remaining eggs until smooth; pour over batter.
Sprinkle with nuts.
Bake at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes or until cake begins to pull away from sides.

Cool on wire rack. Dust with reserved confectioner's sugar.

Store in Refrigerator but serve at room temperture.
