Ingredients

  • 1

    onion, cut in 1/8ths

  • 1

    bulb garlic, cloves smashed

  • 2

    lemons, quartered

  • Zataran's Crab Boil in the yellow and blue box or 1/2 cup old bay seasoning

  • Hot sauce

  • salt

  • Several small red potatoes- bite sized are best

  • Kielbasa, cut into 2-3 inch pieces

  • corn on the cob, shucked and split in half

  • Shrimp, deveined but with the shells still on

Directions

Fill a large pot with water (chicken broth, clam broth or combination), enough to cover all your ingredients, about 6 quarts or more. Add onion and garlic. Squeeze juice of lemons into pot and toss the lemon into the pot. Add Zataran's seasoning packet or old bay, salt and hot sauce to taste. (I'd start with a couple of tablespoons of salt. You can add more later.) Bring to boil. Add baby red potatoes. Return water to boil. Low boil for several minutes, until potatoes are starting to get soft. Add Kielbasa. Boil for 5-10 minutes Add corn. Boil for 5 min. Add shrimp and turn off heat. Let sit for 10-15 minutes for juices to soak into the yummy shrimp. Strain, reserving some of the juice for dipping crusty bread. You may want to add more salt to the dipping juices. Serve on table with cocktail sauce, hot sauce and butter.
