Old-style braided bread
- 1 lb loaf riches white bread dough
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp water
Thaw bread dough according to pkg directions. Slice lengthwise into 3 equal strips. On a lightly floured surface, stretch and mold strips into 15 inch torpedo-shaped piece, tapering at the ends. Place the pieces side by side. Place the right dough piece over the center and then the left over the center and combine until braid is completed. Finish the braid by pinching the ends together. Place on a grease baking sheet and gently straighten the braid. Beat egg and water together, brush top and side of loaf, sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired. Cover and let rise at room temp until double in size. Bake in preheated 375 oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
