Suzanne's Spaghetti Sauce

Suzanne Aimone's Homemade Italian Spaghetti Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb hamburger
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1/2 med onion (I used powder)
  • 2 gloves garlic
  • 1 tsp flaked parsley
  • 1 tsp sage
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1/2 tsp rosemary
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 Tblsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 lg cans Hunt's tomato sauce
  • 1 12 oz can Contadina tomato paste
  • 3/4 *3/4 cup finely rolled oats
  • *if doubling, still only use 3/4 cup oats

Preparation

Step 1

Brown ground beef, chop fine

Add spices, tomato sauce and tomato paste.

Stir until smooth, then add #3 1/2 cups water.
# - double if double batch

Cook for 1 hour, stirring occasionally, not to scorch.

The last 1/2 hour add the 3/4 cup oats (to absorb oil)
sprinkling over top & stirring until well mixed.

After 1 1/2 hrs sauce should be done.

Cool & freeze.
