Date Nut Roll

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup chopped dates
  • 2 cups. boiling water
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 cups. sugar
  • 2 Tbs. butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 cups. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup. chopped nuts

Preparation

Step 1

Pour soda over dates and add water, cool.
Mix the rest of ingredients. Add dates.
Pour into 5-6 bean cans. Fill 1/2 full in ungreased cans.
Bake at 325* for 1 hour. Remove from oven and let stand
a few minutes before removing from cans.
Try running a knife around the sides before removing. Cool
on wire rack.
