Carmelized Apple Pie

This is one of my Mother's (Jeannette Costigan's) recipes.

Ingredients

  • 5 or 6 apples
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour (if apples are juicy)
  • Salt and spices
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup pecan nut meats
  • 1/2 cup white sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Roll out bottom crust and spread with 1 tablespoon butter. Sprinkle on the brown sugar and nuts. Add sliced apples, then sprinkle over the white sugar, flour and spices. Bake at 450° for 10 minutes and then at 350° for 45 minutes or until apples are done.
