Ingredients

  • 2 61/2 oz. cans chopped or minced clams
  • 1 c. finely diced celery
  • 2 c. finely diced potatoes
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 3/4 c. flour
  • 4 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 T. vinegar

Step 1

Drain juice from clams and pour over vegetables. Add enough water to cover vegetables and simmer covered over med. heat until potatoes are tender (approx. 20 min.). Meantime melt butter, add flour and blend and cook a minute or two. Add milk, cook and stir until smooth and thick. Add drained clams, vegetables with liquid, and heat through. Season with salt and pepper, sugar and vinegar.
