Greek Dish

Ingredients

  • Cheese Sauce:
  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 med onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 2 cans tomato sauce
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 pk. long macaroni
  • 2 tbsp. browned butter
  • 4 tbsp. butter, melted
  • 6 tbsp. flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 2 eggs one at a time
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Preparation

Step 1

Simmmer first 7 ingredients about one hour.
Cook and drain macaroni and coat with 2 tbsp. browned butter.

Cheese Sauce:
Bring to full boil then remove from heat and add:
eggs, cheese, and nutmeg

Make layer of macaroni and all of meat, removing some of the grease, rest of macaroni. Then cheese sauce over all. Bake in 13x9 inch pan at 400 degrees approximately 45 minutes or until golden brown.
