Parrano Chocolate Puffle

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour, for rolling
  • 1 – 14 ounce package puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions
  • 1 large bar of dark chocolate (or milk chocolate)
  • 2 cups shredded Parrano cheese
  • Maple syrup for topping
  • Powdered sugar for topping

Preparation

Step 1

Heat waffle maker to medium-high heat and lightly flour a work surface to roll out dough. Unroll puff pastry and cut in half widthwise. Measure the cooking surface of your waffle maker and roll each puff pastry piece to the same width but double the length of the waffle maker. Example: If the waffle maker is 8 inches square, roll each piece of pastry to an 8- by 16-inch rectangle
Divide your filling ingredients between the two puff pastry pieces, distributing ingredients evenly on one half of each piece of dough, leaving ½-inch border. Lightly brush border with water and fold other half of puff pastry over and crimp the edges.
Place filled puff pastry on waffle maker and cook until golden brown and puffed, about 6 minutes each, depending on waffle maker. Do the same with second filled puff pastry.
Cut each waffle in half and serve topped with sweet maple syrup and powdered sugar. Get creative and add other toppings you love!
