Scottish Shortbread ***

Ingredients

  • 1 c. softened butter
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. plus 1 tbsp. sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Work butter, flour and sugar with hands until smooth. Form into a large ball. Wrap in waxed paper and chill for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350*
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4" thickness. Cut into desired shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 5 minutes, reduce temp. to 300* and bake for 10-15 minutes more. Cool completely on racks.
