Ingredients
- Frosting:
- 5 eggs, separated
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/3 cup chopped nuts
- 1 pkg powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Separate eggs, beat whites and set aside. Cream together shortening, butter, sugar and egg yolks. Sift together flour, soda and salt; add alternately with remaining ingredients to creamed mixture. Fold in egg whites. Bake in 3 greased and floured cake pans at 350 for 30 minutes or until done.
Frosting:
Whip cream cheese and butter. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Fold in nuts
