Ingredients
- 1 pkg yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water (105-115)
- 1/4 cup milk, scalded, cooled to lukewarm
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
Preparation
Step 1
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in milk, sugar, salt, egg, shortening and 1 1/4 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Mix in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle. Turn dough onto lightly floured board. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 to 8 minutes. Place in greased bowl, turn greased side up. Cover and let rise in warm place until double, about 1 1/2 hours. Punch dough down. Shape into desired rolls. Cover and let rise until doubled. Bake at 350 until brown.
