Cinnamon buns- whole wheat style

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk, 2% lowfat dough
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons bread machine yeast or 1 package
  • 1 whole egg beaten
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter filling
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk, 2% lowfat
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Combine milk, sugar, salt and butter- microwave until butter is melted about 2 minutes.

Combine flours and then add yeast. Stir egg into milk mixture, then add to flour.

Transfer dough to floured surface and knead about 10 minutes.

Oil and bowl and add dough and let rise about 60 minutes.

Meanwhile combine butter,brown sugar and cinnamon for filling.

Roll out floured dough to 12 x 16. Add filling then roll up.

Using a serrated knife, divide into 12 pieces and let rise another 45 minutes.

Heat oven to 375 and bake for 18- 20 minutes. Let cool 15 minutes then frost.
