Ingredients
- 2 1/3 cup bread/cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 pints small shucked oysters, or 18 large oysters
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons milk or cream
Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to moderate (350° F).
2. Mix the bread crumbs, cracker crumbs and butter.
3. Place half the crumb mixture on the bottom of a greased one-quart casserole. Add half the oysters, reserving the liquor, and sprinkle with half the salt, pepper and parsley. Add the remaining oysters and sprinkle with the remaining salt, pepper and parsley.
4. Mix 1/3 cup oyster liquor with the Worcestershire sauce and milk and pour over the oysters. Top with the remaining crumb mixture.
5. Bake, uncovered, until puffy and brown, about 45 minutes.
