Step 1
Fill a large pot half way with COLD water. (There should be enough water in the pot so that when you add the corn, it is covered with water but not overflowing.)
Bring the pot of COLD water to a boil. Add 1 to 2 tsps of sugar. Using a pair of tongs, carefully drop each ear of corn into the pot.
Cover the pot and let the water return to a boil again, then turn off the heat and keep the pot covered. Let the corn remain in the water for another 10 minutes.
