Ingredients

    lbs ground round

  • 1/2

    cup sweet pickle relish

  • 4

    TB oil

  • 1/2

    cup ketchup

  • 1

    (10-oz) can tomato soup

  • 1

    (12-oz) can V-8 Juice

  • 1

    (14-oz) can stewed tomatoes

  • 1/4

    cup Grapenuts cereal

  • 2

    envelopes onion soup mix

  • 2

    ribs celery minced fine

Directions

In large skilled brown beef in oil, crumbling with fork on med-high till pink color disappears. Stir in each remaining ingredient Stir occasionally, cooking 1 hour on low heat. Spoon the mixture into split hamburger buns. Serves 6 satisfactorily—and freezes well in small portions to thaw & rewarm in 4 months. BLENDER MINCED CELERY: For soups and sauces — quick and easily- Fill blender container half full cold water. Cut celery ribs into 2 or 3" lengths & drop into blender till water comes to within 1" of top. Cap tightly & blend high speed, on-off, 5 or 6 seconds—or till celery is size of confetti. Dump into fine mesh sieve or strainer & drain off water, reserving it if you wish to use in soups later. Use minced celery as individual recipes direct.-- TOMATO SAUCE From Tomato Juice In A Pinch! Break up 6 Ritz Crackers & drop into blender with 1/2 tsp season salt. Blend high speed till powdered. Heat 12-oz tomato juice—but don't boil—stirring in blender mixture, just till thickened & smooth. Remove at once from heat. Season to taste with salt & pepper. Makes 1/3 cup sauce. Use promptly.
