Preparation

Step 1

Wrap one piece of the bacon around 1 piece of hot dog & secure with toothpick, placing these in a single layer in a large, shallow roasting pan.

Bake them uncovered at 400F for 15 minutes or till bacon appears transparent and limp, and drippings cover the bottom of the pan.

Remove the hot dog pieces to a slow cooker container, by lifting them out of the drippings using a pair of pliers, gripping the toothpick when transferring them. Don't fret about the toothpicks cooking right along with the food, as it will be perfectly all right. Discard the bacon drippings in that roasting pan.

Combine the ketchup and sugar and pour over hot dog pieces. Cover slow cooker with tight fitting lid. Cook 1 hour on high and 7 to 8 hours on low, serving these right from the slow cooker, or transfer hot dog pieces and a little of the sauce to an electric skillet and keep on warm setting while serving them.
