Preparation

Step 1

Mix it all together thoroughly. Store it in a quart jar with a tight fitting lid and keep it refrigerated to use within a month.

Makes 1 quart.

Successful BBQ PORK CHOP:

TO USE THE BBQ SAUCE--
Bake plain pork chops in a shallow roasting pan, in a single layer, wipe the surface of each chop with a tablespoon or two of the sauce. Bake uncovered at 375F about 45 minutes and add more sauce to the chops as you wish, applying it about every 10 or 15 minutes during baking. Do not turn the chops during baking.

Heavy Duty Sloppy Joe BBQ:

A bit more mild than the Coney Sauce, you can brown 2-pounds of ground round or ground chuck in a few tablespoons of oil in a roomy skillet, mashing it with a fork, till the pink color disappears. Use medium high heat for this and then turn to lowest possible heat and stir in a 10-oz can tomato soup and 1 cup of the BBQ Sauce, and let it fend for itself, covered with a nice-fitting lid, cooking slowly on low for about an hour before you spoon it into split hamburger buns. Serve something like this sandwich with coleslaw or our potato salad, or a bowl of piping hot gussied-up canned soup.

CHICKEN IN BBQ SAUCE:
Bake chicken breasts and then 15 minutes before the baking time, dab a tablespoon of the BBQ Sauce over each piece of the chicken. You don't want to add it too soon or it may scorch and have a bitter taste. All you want to do with it is get it warmed when you baste the food in it.
