Eggless Date Apple & Walnut Cake

My DD made this at school in cooking. I didnt even get to taste them. By the time I got home they were all gone !!!
My DH & DS gave them the big thumbs up, and have asked her to make them again!!

Ingredients
- 60 g butter or 60 g margarine
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 1 teaspoon hot water
- 3/4 cup apple puree
- 1 cup wholemeal self-rising flour
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup chopped pitted dates
- 2 teaspoons slivered almonds
Preparation
Step 1
1 Set oven at 180dg c . 2 Grease and line a 200mm bar tin. 3 Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. 4 Mix bi-carb and water. Stir bi-carb mixture into all other ingredients (except almonds)and mix well. 5 Place in pan and sprinkle with the slivered almonds. 6 Bake for 45 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. 7 Cool on rack and cut into bars. 8 Serve warm with whipped cream or cold.
