Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large yellow onion finely chopped
- 2 medium shallots, finely chopped about 1/2 cup
- 2 green onions thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup (8 oz. container) whipped cream cheese
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 3/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1-1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper sauce
Preparation
Step 1
In 12 inch nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium heat until hot. Add yellow onion and shallots, and cook, covered 10-12 minutes or until tender and golden, stirring occasionally. Wrap and refrigerate 1 tablespoon green onion for garnish. Add salt, pepper, and remaining green onions, cook 2 minutes uncovered or until tender, stirring occasionally. Transfer onion mixture to bowl or plate, refrigerate until cool. In medium bowl whisk cream cheese, sour cream and mayonnaise until blended. Add cooled onion mixture and cayenne pepper sauce, stir to blend. Cover and refrigerate up to 2 days if not serving right away.
