QUEBEC TOURTIERE PIE

Ingredients

  • On medium heat, saute 1 pound each of lean ground pork and chicken for 5 minutes
  • Add 2 medium onions minced
  • 2 finely diced celery stalks
  • 1 tablespoons minced fresh garlic
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried savory
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Dust mixture with 4 tablespoons flour Add 1 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup shredded turnips
  • Pour in 2/3 cup beef stock
  • Blend well
  • Season with salt and pepper
  • Transfer ingredients to a 9 inch deep dish pie shell
  • Brush edges with beaten egg

Step 1

Top with additional pie crust. Seal edges. Brush top with beaten egg. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until brown. Serves 6 with garlic mashed potatoes and brown gravy.
