Cold Buttered Rum Shake

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tbsp cold milk
  • 3 tbsp amber or dark rum
  • 3 tbsp light brown sugar
  • Pinch ground cloves
  • Pinch freshly grated nutmeg
  • 8 medium scoops butter pecan or butter almond ice cream, about 1 quart, or 24 oz, softened until just melty at edges

Preparation

Step 1

1. Put milk, rum, brown sugar, clove and nutmeg in blender and mix thoroughly about 15 seconds.

2. Add ice cream and pulse several times to begin breaking up ice cream. With blender off, use a spatula to mash mixture onto blades. Continue pulsing and mashing until mixture is thickened and blended, 30 to 90 seconds.

3. Pour into a chilled glass and serve at once. Makes about 3 1/2 cups or 28 oz
