Sauteed Red-Skinned Apples

By

Ingredients

  • 4 medium, tart, red-skinned apples (such as Fuji or Gala)
  • 6 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 to 2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

1. Wash the apples in cold water and pat dry. Cut them into quarters, and cut out the core. Slice each quarter lengthwise into 4 slices.
2. Melt the butter in a medium frying pan over medium heat. Add the apples and sugar and mix well. Sprinkle the apple slices with desired amount of cinnamon. Reduce the heat to medium low and continue cooking for 12-15 minutes, stirring frequently, until the apples have reached the desired degree of doneness. The cooking time will vary depending on the variety of apples being used. When the apples are done, the butter and sugar mixture will have become a delicious syrup. Serve warm.
