  • 1 +1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 +1/2 tsp. sugar (optional)
  • 1 +2/3 cups buttermilk
  • 4 eggs well beaten
  • 6 Tbsp. butter melted

Step 1

preheat oven to 400F
mix together dry ingredients, in a large bowl. add buttermilk, and eggs, using a wooden spoon, beat until thoroughtly mixed. add butter and stir until just mixed.
pour batter into a buttered cast-iron dish and bake until golden. firm to the touch and cracked on the top, about
30 minutes.
cool and serve
