Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup (12 oz) nuts chopped
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 3 tablespoons lite corn syrup
  • 1 package (8 oz) semi sweet chocolate or butterscotch squares of chips

Step 1

Place chopped nuts on cookie sheet, toast in 375 degree oven for 10 minutes or till lightly brown. Combine butter, sugar, corn syrup and water in a medium size heavy sauce pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly to 300 on candy thermometer. Remove from heat, stir in toasted nuts. Pour into a butter jelly roll pan, spreading quickly and evenly. Cool. Turn out onto wax paper. Melt chocolate in top of a double broiler over hot water. Spread over toffee, let stand until set, then break into pieces. Frosting is option.
