Caramel Butter Sauce

Try this delicious compote over angel food cake for a summer treat

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter - 1 cube
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1

In a 1-quart saucepan combine all ingredients except vanilla. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture thickens and comes to a full boil, 4 to 5 minutes. Boil 1 minute. Stir in vanilla. Serve over ice cream, cake and desserts. Store leftovers in refrigerator.
