Orange-Chocolate Cream Supreme Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg sour cream chocolate cake mix (or any chocolate cake mix)
  • 1 envelope whipped topping mix
  • 1 (4 oz) vanilla instant pudding
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1 tsp orange extract
  • Orange food coloring, if desired
  • 1 container creamy milk chocolate frosting
  • 1 (12oz) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • Mandarin oranges
  • Chocolate curls

Step 1

Prepare cake mix as per pkg and bake in 2 (8”) round pans. Cool and split each layer to make two layers.

For orange cream filling blend topping mix, instant pudding, cold milk and extract. Beat until stiff (3-8 minutes). Add drop of orange coloring if desired. Spread filling between split layers.

To make chocolate glaze, heat 2/3 cup of frosting and spread on top layer. For chocolate cream, fold remaining frosting from container into the thawed whipped topping. Spread on middle layer and on sides of cake. Place chocolate curls on sides of cake and decorate top with chocolate dipped mandarin oranges and chocolate curls. Keep cake refrigerated. Cool frosting and filling before applying.
