Soft & Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. white sugar
  • 1 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. butter or margarine (3 sticks)
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 4 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 to 2 (12 ounce) packages of chocolate chips (one is fine).
  • Nuts if you so desire
  • Note: You can soften your butter in the microwave, and then if you want to have an easier consistency to work with, refrigerate it. I find a denser mix (one that's been refrigerated) makes better cook

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350°.
In large bowl, beat sugars and butter until light and fluffy.
Add vanilla and eggs; blend well.
In separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix.
Add dry mixture to wet mixture.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop dough by rounded spoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for about ten minutes; rotate once at 5 minutes if your oven heats unevenly, until evenly golden colored (depending on what kind of brown sugar you use). Don't let the edges burn.
