Ingredients
- Bring to a boil:
- 8 cups russet potatoes, peeled, cut in chunks (about 2 1/2 lb)
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup white onion, sliced
- 1 tbsp. garlic, chopped
- salt and white pepper and nutmeg to taste
- Layer with; bake:
- 1 cup swiss cheese, grated

Step 1
preheat oven to 450. bring potatoes, milk, cream, onion, garlic, and seasonings to a boil in a large saucepan. reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 10mins.
layer half the potatoes in a greased, 4 quart casserole dish and top with half the cheese. repeat layering; pour milk and cream mixture on top. bake, uncovered, for 25mins, or until potatoes are cooked through. let stand 10 mins before serving.
