Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 C buttermilk
- 2 TBLS shortening, melted or salad oil (or applesauce)
- 1 C all-purpose flour
- 1 TBLS sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
Preparation
Step 1
Beat egg; add remaining ingredients in order listed and beat with rotary beater until smooth. Grease heated griddle if necessary.
Pour batter from tip of large spoon or from pitcher onto hot griddle. Turn pancakes as soon as they are puffed and full of bubbles but before the bubbles break. Bake other side until brown.
