Ingredients

  • Bun Dough:
  • 1 dozen buns
  • 7 grams quick active yeast
  • 1/4 c lukewarm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3 c all purpose flour
  • 1 c lukewarm milk
  • Filling:
  • 1/2 lb finely ground pork, cooked
  • 1 tbsp green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 c water

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in water; add sugar and tbsp flour and let stand until it bubbles. Place flour in mixing bowl; gradually stir in yeast mixture and then milk. Stir until well combined, add more flour if sticky. Turn dough onto floured board and knead vigorously for 5 minutes. Pour dough into bowl, covered, and let stand 1hr-1 1/2hr until doubled. Divide dough into 12 pieces and flatten to 1/4inch thickness.

In a saucepan, combine all ingredients and heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Cool slightly. Fill each dough with 1tbsp filling and securely close. Place on wax paper and let rise until doubled. Steam over rapidly boiling water for 10 minutes.
