Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 to 4 cups powdered sugar, SIFTED
- 1/4 teaspoon table salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Up to 4 tablespoons heavy cream
Preparation
Step 1
Beat the softened butter for a few minutes with a mixer using the paddle attachment on medium speed.
Turn off the mixer and add the 3 cups of powdered sugar. Turn mixer on to the lowest speed until the sugar has been incorporated with the butter. The mixture will look clumpy.
Increase mixer speed to medium and add the vanilla extract, salt, and 2 tablespoons of cream and eat for 2 to 3 minutes until it is whipped, fluffy, and creamy in appearance.
If your icing needs a more stiff consistency, add remaining sugar. If it needs to be thinned out, add remaining cream one tablespoon at a time.
