Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb ground meat (turkey or beef) lean
- 1 large onion
- 1 tsp crushed garlic
- 2 tbs oil
- 411g can diced tomatoes
- 4 tbsp. tomato paste
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp thyme
- 4 cups water
- salt, pepper
Preparation
Step 1
chop onion finely. cook onion and garlic in heated oil till golden. add meat, cook well, mashing with fork to break up the lumps. cook until meat browns well. pour off surplus fat.
add canned tomatoes, tomato paste and herbs, water, salt and pepper.
when the sauce comes to a boil reduce heat and cook gently for 1 1/2 to 2 hours uncovered, or until nearly all liquid has evaporated.
