Ingredients
- for the frosting:
- 1 8.25 oz. package Pillsbury "Radiant Red" Cake Mix
- 1-8.25 oz. package Pillsbury "Aqua Blue" Cake Mix
- water, eggs, oil, as according to package directions
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 lb. powdered sugar
- 1-2 tablespoons milk, or enough to make this smooth frosting consistency
- red, white and blue sprinkles
Preparation
Step 1
Prepare and bake cake mixes according to package directions. Cool completely, then remove from paper liners.
Slice each cake in half and then rearrange so each cupcake has a blue and red level.
For the frosting, whip butter, vanilla powdered sugar and milk together until smooth frosting forms. Start adding the milk 1 teaspoon at a time to ensure your frosting doesn't get too thin.
Spread frosting in the middle and on the top of each cupcake. Add sprinkles and serve!
Yield: 24 cupcakes
