  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 egg whites

Step 1

Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour two -inch round cake pans. In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk and shortening at low speed until moistened: beat 2 mintes at medium speed. Add vanilla and egg whites;continue beating an additional 2 minutes. Pour into pans. Bake at 350 for 20 - 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10minutes;remove from pans. Cool completely.
