Crackly Gingersnaps

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves

Preparation

Step 1

Cream shortening and brown sugar. Add molasses and egg. Beat thoroughly.

Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture.

Cover and chill.

Roll chilled dough into balls the size of small walnuts. Quickly dip in cold water then the tops in sugar.

Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 375 for 10-12 minutes.
