Dark Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup strong coffee
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa, sifted
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9 x 13 baking pan.

Beat together oil and sugars. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla and mix until fluffy. Beat in buttermilk and coffee.

Combine flour, cocoa, soda, baking powder and slat. Add to creamed mixture and beat until smooth. Batter will be thin. Pour into pans.

Bake for 45 minutes, or until done.

CHOCOLATE MOCHA ICING: Beat until smooth and creamy: 1 1/2 cups icing sugar, 1/4 cup softened butter, 1/8 cup cocoa, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1/8 cup strong coffee.
