Ingredients
- Basting sauce:
- 2-1/2 TO 3 lbs. spareribs
- Dash salt
- Dash black pepper
- Dash paprika
- 1 lemon, thinly sliced
- 2/3 cup onions, chopped
- 2/3 tomato ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 1 tsp mustard powder
- 1/4 tsp Tabasco sauce
- Or use your favorite brand of barbecue sauce from the supermarket

Arrange the spareribs, meaty side up, in a foil-lined shallow baking pan. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and paprika. Place sliced lemon over top.
Bake ribs at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes.
In the meantime, combine ingredients for basting sauce in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Turn heat down and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes.
Reduce oven temperature to 325 degrees.
Brush ribs with half the sauce, baste on both sides.
Bake at 325 degrees for about 1 hour or until ribs are done Turn them at least once during cooking time and baste frequently with remaining sauce
Cut ribs into serving pieces. Serve with corn on the cob and crusty bread.
