Vietnamese Meatballs

By

Delightfully savory meatballs, they can be eaten as an entrée with rice or as a sandwich, tucked into hoagie rolls (see "Baguette Sandwhich"). They can also be used in the "Pan Seared Tomatoes Stuffed With Pork" recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork or beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 scallions, finely sliced
  • 1 tbsp oyster, plum, or hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp sugar or Splenda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground red pepper
  • 1 tsp oil

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine ground pork or beef, onion, scallions, oyster sauce, flour, sugar, salt and red pepper. Knead mixture until well-combined.

Form mixture into 12 meatballs.

Heat large skillet over medium-high heat. Pour 1 tsp of olive oil into pre-heated skillet. Place meatballs into skillet, do not over crowd the meatballs. Cook in batches if necessary. Cook the meatballs for 10-12 minutes, or until cooked through.
