Pickled Red Onions

Pickled red onions are super easy to prepare and make a tasty addition to burgers and salads.

Ingredients
- Makes about 4 cups
- 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cups distilled white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
Preparation
Step 1
1. Place onion In a medium glass bowl; set aside.
2. In a medium saucepan, bring vinegar, salt, sugar, bay leaves, and peppercorns to a boll over medium-high heat. Pour boiling vinegar mixture over onion. Let stand at room temperature until cool, about 1 hour. Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
