Ingredients
- 1/3 cup butter
- 3/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 egg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
- 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- finely chopped walnuts, optional
Preparation
Step 1
Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Stir in maple syrup; cool slightly. Beat in egg. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into syrup mixture. Add nuts. Pour into a greased 9x9x2 inch pan.
Bake in a 350 oven for 20-25 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into diamond shapes; remove from pan and place on rack.
For glaze, combine powdered sugar and syrup. Thin with a few drops of water, if necessary. Drizzle glaze over top of bars. Sprinkle with finely chopped walnuts, if desired.
