Ingredients
- 6 cups sliced fresh plums
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup wheat germ
- 1/3 cup butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 F. Pour plums into the bottom of a 9-inch square pan or 9-inch deep dish pie pan. Toss with sugar, 2 tbsp flour and cinnamon until coated.
In a bowl, mix together the 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar and wheat germ. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in oats and nuts until evenly combined, then sprinkle oat mixture evenly over plums. Bake until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbly, about 35 to 40 minutes. Serve hot or warm. For a real harvest treat, serve with homemade ice cream.
Note: For a tasty twist and 1/2 cup of seedless grapes, or use 3 cups sliced plums and 3 cups sliced nectarines.
