Ingredients

  • 2 med. size onions, chopped
  • 1 -10 oz. tin sliced mushrooms
  • 4 1/2 lbs lean gr. beef
  • 1-28 oz. tin stewed tomatoes
  • 1-14 oz. tin tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 3/4 tsp oregano
  • 1 scant tsp basil
  • few drops liquid red pepper seasoning
  • 2 cloves garlic peeled
  • 1/2 tbsp salad oil
  • 3/4 lb lasagne noodles
  • 1 1/2 lbs mozarella cheese slices

Preparation

Step 1

Saute onions in skillet over med. heat until translucent. Transfer to pot. In same skillet cook meat until cooked. Add the following in pot and stir: stewed tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, sugar, chili powder, oregano, basil, liquid red pepper, garlic clove. Add to sauce. Bring to boil over medium heat., reduce heat and simmer. Cook minimum of 30 mins. I use my slow cooker for several hours.
