Ingredients
- 1 2/3 cups buttermilk, or sour milk
- 2 2/3 cups bran cereal
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 3/4 cup mixed dried fruit or raisins

Preparation
Step 1
Pour milk over bran; let stand 5 - 10 minutes. Mix flours, baking powder and soda; set aside.
Beat butter for 30 seconds; add brown sugar; beat 30 seconds; add eggs one at a time, add 1/4 cup maple syrup; beat until combined. Stir in fruit. Spoon into 3 1/2" muffin cups.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Brush with remaining maple syrup.
